March 30, 2023 - Wichita State University students use the editing suite at Shocker Studios for their video projects. The studio features theater lighting and seating, a 4K digital cinema compliant projector and a 200-inch screen. “No one else has this, certainly no one in the Midwest,” said Justin Rorabaugh, director of Shocker Studios.

Feb. 27, 2023 — The classic sit-com set – think anything from “I Love Lucy” to “Seinfeld” to “The Big Bang Theory” – is now a teaching tool at Wichita State University’s Shocker Studios.

Feb. 24, 2023 - The Dockum Drug Store sit-in of 1958 attracted new attention in 2021 during Black History Month, in part thanks to NBC’s “Today” and Wichita native Sheinelle Jones. Several University of Wichita students participated in the sit-in, which is increasingly recognized as a landmark event in the Civil Rights Movement. NBC’s “Today” featured the events in a 2021 broadcast.

Feb. 7, 2023 - Actor, digital creator and TikTok influencer Chris Olsen will speak about his rise to fame during An Evening with Chris Olsen at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at the Wichita State University Eugene M. Hughes Metropolitan Complex.

Jan. 23, 2023 — A recent "PBS News Hour” story highlights the role Wichita State University plays in the arts community of Wichita. “Wichita State has a hand in almost every arts entity in the Wichita metropolitan area, from the symphony to the art museum,” said Dr. Rodney Miller, dean of the College of Fine Arts.

Dec. 15, 2022 — Betty and Art Wood shared a passion for music throughout their lives, and their legacy of supporting the arts continues through their gift of $1 million from their estate to support the Music Associates Endowed Fund at Wichita State.

June 10, 2022 -- Tiahna Padilla is a senior majoring in computer engineering and an animation. She is currently utilizing her skills as an intern at Textron Aviation as an IT business analyst.

May 26, 2022 — An interdisciplinary team from Wichita State University will participate in a $24 million state initiative to help rural and urban communities prepare for and recover from natural disasters.

May 10, 2022 - Nerea Makoli Quiros encourages students to confidently ask for help from professors and classmates. Openness to new people and new experiences, she said, is a valuable part of college.Nerea is one of more than 2,400 students eligible for spring 2022 graduation. May 5, 2022 – Hannah, from Augusta, Kansas, will graduate in spring 2022 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design She chose to attend Wichita State because of how Wichita State helps students find internships and hands-on learning experiences.

May 3, 2022 — Camille Brashear is an adult learner who will graduate in spring 2022. She says she chose to continue her education at Wichita State not only because it was affordable, but also because of the local pride surrounding WSU.

May 5, 2022 — Lydia Humphreys is a graduate advisor at ShiftSpace Gallery, a student-run art gallery in downtown Wichita. Her experiences there played an important role in her education and time at Wichita State University. Lydia is one of more than 2,400 students eligible for spring 2022 graduation. April 26, 2022 — The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University is helping Butler Community College students interested in furthering their business education with $40,000 in scholarships. These scholarships will help amplify and activate the coordinated “2+2” program between the two schools where Butler students can receive their associates degree and pursue a business degree at WSU.

April 15, 2022 — Every day is a day to celebrate the art that enriches our lives. And in April – April 15 to be exact – we pay special tribute with World Art Day. Art at Wichita State University can be seen all over campus and is a vital part of WSU’s campus life.

March 30, 2022 - The vision for varsity esports at Wichita State encompasses much more than people gaming on Cybertron Computers and wearing a Logitech Headset. While gaming success is important, the program is also seen as way to provide extra-curricular activity and applied learning for students in disciplines across campus. Travis Yang, hired in December as WSU’s Esports director, wants to build a program that follows that direction.
